Patience Is Difficult
In every aspect of life, be it relations, career, or investing – You need PATIENCE.
However, Patience is difficult and that’s what makes it boring. People may have patience in relations or careers, but when it comes to investing they lack patience, Why?
Because our urge to make quick money to get rid of all our financial worries in life as quickly as possible makes us lose a very important part of investment success – PATIENCE.
Nobody, literally nobody has made big money in investing by being IMPATIENT. You can’t make big money without PATIENCE.
Those who say or flaunt that they have made quick money in the stock market haven’t made it big in life. They just flaunt to sell you some training, course or tips package. To which most people fall prey.
The people who make big money in life follow a very simple approach and have Patience.
Impatience & Mr. Ram
In April 2018, Mr. Ram started a SIP of ₹10,000 in SBI Flexi Cap Fund and he continued investment till March 2020 when covid hit, markets fell sharply and Mr. Ram saw his investment of ₹2.40 Lakhs fall to ₹1.80 Lakhs (Negative ₹59,707).
He never expected to see this sort of portfolio as back in 2018 news was promising he thought the economy will grow from now onwards and he will make money as people did in 2017 but the experience was completely different so he got impatient and sold his entire portfolio at a loss of ₹59k.
Patience & Mr. Sham
Along with Mr. Ram, his friend Mr. Sham also started SIP of ₹10,000 in SBI Flexi Cap Fund in April 2018 with the same view that the economy looks positive and people made money till 2017 so he will also make money.
But in March 2020 when Covid hit the market fell for him too even though his portfolio was down ₹59k similar to Mr. Ram. The only different thing he did during that time was he sat and didn’t look at his portfolio he said the whole world is going through a bad phase, including our economy and there’s nothing we can do about it at this moment the only good thing to do is to wait as this too shall pass.
His patience and calmness and discipline to continue his SIP till today. That SIP has accumulated him ₹7.09 Lakhs with an investment of just ₹4.80 Lakhs – that’s an appreciation of ₹2.29 Lakhs in the last 4 years.
That’s how patience makes the difference in wealth creation. Though these examples are for a very short time period in long term like 15-20 years the compounding plays a more significant role in Wealth creation for those who don’t lose patience.
Patience is Difficult it’s not as easy to keep the way we discuss. It’s hard, very hard and very few have the appetite to have it – Will You have It? Let me know 🙂
